About my music
For two years in the 1990s I studied music at university – along with other subjects – where I learned how to use a sequencer with an Apple Mac. By the end of the 90’s I was recording orchestral/mediaeval soundtrack music using a Korg X5D and MicroLogic.
Soundtrack composer
I joined MP3.com and had a string of no.1’s with soundtrack music for my writing in their genre charts. Unfortunately the company killed its royalty system a few months later after being taken over by Vivendi/Universal Music. Later I put some of the tracks up on Soundcloud. In the early 2000s I recorded a soundtrack for online MMORPG Realm Online, but a change in company ownership meant this was never used, but again I put some of the tracks on Soundcloud.
Rock DJ
Between 2010-2012 I ran and DJ’ed rock nightclub events in Inverness under the name of Alternative X, first at the Ironworks music venue and then at the Cake nightclub.
aiternal
After my illness struck in 2020 I could no longer use my home music studio – it was upstairs where I couldn’t reach it and for the time being there was no room downstairs to set it up. I lost all interest in music. By late 2024 though I was desperate to get back into making music again. I stumbled onto Suno where my love of music was rekindled by using AI music. I autogenerated thousands of tracks and published the best few under the name aiternal. The aim isn’t to simply produce epic soundtrack music but instead to use a wide variety of different prompts for structure and style to result in epic music that is truly different and outstanding.
Saturnyne
By now my wife had brilliantly been able to help set up my home music studio downstairs, and I began work on a new music project – a human/AI hybrid I named Saturnyne – that involved me taking basic AI tracks from Suno and putting them together, remixing with other tracks, remastering, and producing before releasing to just Spotify, Apple, and Amazon.
The next project is to produce human-only composed music specifically for streaming platforms, though at present I have no name for that project, and am only just putting songs together.
